Revigora Brasil

Preserve life. Restore ecosystems. Build a new bioeconomy.

Revigora Brasil proposes bringing together biodiversity conservation, scientific research, education and economic development. With Belo Horizonte and Minas Gerais as geographical reference points, the initiative sets out a vision for protecting species, developing knowledge and expanding biotechnology opportunities.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Natural heritage is also a commitment to future generations.

The proposal connects wildlife protection, preservation of genetic material and ecosystem restoration. It aims to create conditions for scientific knowledge to contribute to conservation while strengthening an economy based on biodiversity.

01

Conserve

Protect species and preserve genetic resources.

02

Restore

Connect habitat restoration with wildlife recovery.

03

Innovate

Connect research, training, technology and new businesses.

AREAS OF WORK

One programme. Four complementary areas.

01

Biocofre Brasil

A proposed cryobank to conserve biological material from threatened species and support research. Preserving cells and genetic resources expands opportunities for study and future conservation strategies.

02

Wildlife recovery and restoration

Research and planning focused on ecosystem recovery and wildlife conservation. Assisted reproduction and reintroduction initiatives must be informed by habitat conditions and scientific assessment.

03

Museu do Futuro dos Animais

A concept for an immersive educational space connecting science and society. Exhibitions, digital resources and school activities bring the public closer to biodiversity and the challenges of preserving it.

04

Biotechnology hub

A proposed network of laboratories, universities and businesses in molecular biology, genetics and bioinformatics, with potential for professional training and technology development.

IN PRACTICE

Biocofre Brasil: preserving possibilities for the future.

Cryopreservation maintains biological material under controlled conditions for scientific use. In Revigora Brasil, Biocofre is presented as research and conservation infrastructure connected to the study of species and the restoration of their habitats.

Biological memory

Organise and preserve biological resources to support knowledge of Brazilian wildlife.

Connected research

Bring collections, teams and institutions together around scientific conservation goals.

A long-term perspective

The programme website presents the preservation of 300 species as a future consolidation target, not an existing collection.

EXPLORE IN DETAIL

From research to engagement with society.

Explore the areas that make up the programme's approach.

Conservation and place

The programme focuses on Brazilian biodiversity, with attention to the Cerrado, Atlantic Forest and Serra do Espinhaço. Habitat recovery and wildlife protection are complementary dimensions.

Science and technology development

Molecular biology, cryopreservation, assisted reproduction and bioinformatics form part of the proposed research field. Applications depend on development, scientific assessment and implementation conditions.

Education and science tourism

Museu do Futuro proposes immersive experiences, digital content and activities for schools and universities. The aim is to turn encounters with science into learning and participation in conservation.

Bioeconomy and skilled employment

Connecting research, training and business aims to create employment and technology development opportunities. The plan also explores biotechnology applications for sustainable production.

Cooperation and sustainability

The proposal envisages mobilising scientific institutions, government, conservation organisations, investors and funders. Each partnership's composition and funding sources depend on coordination and formal agreements.

SCIENCE AND SOCIETY

Understanding inspires engagement.

Museu do Futuro dos Animais brings biodiversity closer to the public. The proposal combines immersive storytelling, scientific observation and educational activities to help different generations understand what is at risk — and how to take part in its conservation.

THE JOURNEY

Building in stages.

  1. 01

    Coordinate and plan

Map research, priority species, institutions and implementation conditions.

  2. 02

    Establish the foundations

Organise plans for conservation, cryopreservation, education and technology development.

  3. 03

    Implement and research

Develop facilities and pilot projects according to feasibility and established agreements.

  4. 04

    Consolidate and expand

Track results and expand the research, conservation and training network.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

A future combining conservation and development.

01

Biodiversity

Preserve biological resources and support species conservation.

02

Knowledge

Create connections for research, training and science communication.

03

Economy and society

Encourage opportunities in education, science tourism and biotechnology.

The facilities, targets and stages presented express the programme's proposal. Their delivery depends on technical feasibility, resources, partnerships and implementation.
